Reflections on transitioning from intern to full-time Packaged Application Development Associate at Accenture — what changed, what stayed the same, and what I learned about enterprise development.
Starting at Accenture as a Packaged Application Development Associate in October 2025 marked the shift from startup-speed development to enterprise-scale engineering. The change was significant — not just in technology, but in process, communication, and how code moves from laptop to production.
Process: Startups ship fast and fix later. Enterprise development requires documentation, approval gates, and compliance checks before a single line of code reaches production. I learned that this process is not bureaucracy — it is risk management.
Scale: At Capitalreach.ai, my changes affected dozens of users. At Accenture, a single API change could impact thousands. Code review became not just a formality but a genuine safety net.
Collaboration: Working across teams with different ownership boundaries taught me to write clearer interfaces and better documentation.
The fundamentals — clean code, testing, and understanding the problem before writing the solution — mattered just as much at Accenture as they did at a startup. The frameworks and tools changed, but the engineering principles did not.
