Problem
Email inboxes are cluttered with spam, promotional emails, order updates, and job application responses. Important emails get buried. Tracking job applications manually is tedious. Phishing attempts are becoming harder to distinguish from legitimate emails.
Approach
Building an AI-powered email assistant that scans inboxes to categorize emails, extract order statuses from e-commerce platforms (Flipkart, Amazon, Meesho), track job application responses, and flag potential phishing attempts.
Architecture
- Frontend: Next.js, TypeScript
- Backend: Node.js API routes
- Email Integration: IMAP/SMTP for inbox scanning and automated replies
- AI: NLP-based email categorization and phishing detection
- Notifications: WhatsApp and SMS integration for priority replies
Status
Currently in active development. Core email scanning and job tracking modules are functional. Phishing detection and WhatsApp notification features are being implemented.

Lessons Learned
Every project comes with tradeoffs. If I were to rebuild this today, I would invest more time in automated testing early in the cycle — catching edge cases in payment webhooks and encryption boundaries before they reach production. The architecture decisions held up well, but the test coverage should have matched the complexity from day one.
