Real-time technical game for 100 participants (50 teams) combining quiz challenges with a logo-finding mechanic, built and hosted live for a college symposium.
The college IT department symposium needed an engaging, technical activity beyond traditional paper presentations or coding contests. The event required something interactive, visual, and scalable to 50+ concurrent teams with clear scoring and winner determination.
Designed a hybrid game combining technical multiple-choice questions with a visual logo-hunt mechanic. Each team faces a quiz on one side and a 3x3 card grid on the other. Correct answers reveal logo fragments; finding a full logo earns bonus points.
Handling 50 concurrent sessions with zero tolerance for failure during a live event. Every crash or lag would be visible to the audience. Solved with extensive offline load testing, lightweight state management, and a manual fallback scoring system.
Every project comes with tradeoffs. If I were to rebuild this today, I would invest more time in automated testing early in the cycle — catching edge cases in payment webhooks and encryption boundaries before they reach production. The architecture decisions held up well, but the test coverage should have matched the complexity from day one.
